Farm & Garden

“No occupation is so delightful to me as the culture of the earth, and no culture comparable to that of the garden…But though an old man, I am but a young gardener.”     – Thomas Jefferson

We have some hobbies that keep us in touch with the earth.

  • Vegetable gardening – all kinds of veggies and one each year with which we experiment.  Last year we tried all types of peppers.  This year, it’s zucchini.
  • Flower beds – more my bride’s hobby than mine but I can admire her work
  • Pigs – pigs are wonderful animals
  • Chickens – just for the eggs
  • Turkeys – every few years I raise my own turkeys

We have childhood memories of zucchini tasting better than the zucchini being commonly sold today in most grocery stores and by the major seed companies.  So this year, we are experimenting with some of the less common zucchini varieties in an effort to recapture that old zucchini flavor.   These are the varieties we are we are trying this year.
